Music First has developed its own core lesson curriculum code: titled ADEPT.  This stands for:

  • APPLICATION:  Teacher application and communication of material.

  • DETAILS:  Attention to the small details in your lessons

  • EDUCATORS:  Learning starts with great educators.

  • PATIENCE:  To be an effective teacher they need to have patience.

  • TECHNIQUE:   Teaching proper technique is paramount.

ADEPT is a train of thought our teachers apply to their lessons.  It’s a guide to help our teachers help our students obtain their goals.

One of the first things you learn is the guitar anatomy.  Define and locate all the working parts on the guitar.  How to hold the guitar is the next important step.  Learning to properly position the guitar on your body and hand placement is important.  Learning to hold the pick correctly is next in line.   While you don’t always hold a pick when playing guitar, it’s still a very essential and overlooked guitar skill!
